Corporate front group Center for Consumer Freedom renews War on Puppies

Just when you thought everyone loves puppies, American Corporations have arrived to prove they are solidly in the Joe the Plumber camp of hating animals. Yes, Center for Consumer Freedom bought ad time during the Oscars to run a commercial bashing the Humane Society!

And who is the Center for Consumer Freedom? Why, a corporate front group ran by Rick Berman. Not the terrible Rick Berman who ruined Star Trek, this is a different terrible Rick Berman. What is it with Ricks? I’ll just copy ThinkProgress’s table of horrors that Rick Berman, PR Hero, has unleashed upon the nation:

I sure hope Rick Berman doesn’t follow the diet he gets paid to pimp out, because he would have enormous medical bills and catastrophic health consequences. And that would be a shame. Reminder to all that Politisink is Team Puppies!
Team Puppies!

Yada yada yada election results

So things turned out rather mixed-to-bad on Tuesday. The Republicans sweeped into the House, while control of the senate remains in Democratic hands thanks to some awful, awful candidates fronted by the teabaggers. Granted, a few teabagger senators did get elected (Rubio and Paul). We survived eight years under the Bush regime, we can survive two years of Speaker Boner and the No Squad doing nothing. Expect subpoenas on all sorts of things to waste our time and money, including the Black Panthers, ACORN, and Obama being a secret Kenyan Muslim. The best news of the night was the passage of Prop B in Missouri. That was the Puppy Mill Prop, which you may recall meant some puppy mill owners were posting in the comments here not too happy. I bet they are even less happy now, but the puppies win, and Politisink will always support protecting puppies from the forces of evil. A bold stance to take, I know.

But Politisink will still be here to go over the crazy things rightwing idiots do, teabagger craziness, and general awfulness of conservatives, because there’s gonna be a whole lot more of it! And soon he 2012 election season will begin, with Sarah Palin going to run until she fails badly and then quits again. And I think that awful governor from Mississippi wants to run for president, which will also be fun when he starts burning crosses. Let’s not forget that this was only a warmup with corporate cash going into political funding, by 2012 the process will be perfected and you will never see a non-political commercial on tv again.

The face of victory!

Tea Party and Joe the Plumber declare War on Puppies

Yes, you read that right! The Missouri Tea Party groups, Joe the Plumber, and a whole host of conservative douche-gobblers have all come out against a law that would stop puppy mills in Missouri. The War on Puppies stance from the Teabagger groups is gobsmackingly dumb, but not as dumb as some of the quotes from the various nutjobs. Be warned that this article will eventually have quotes about abused dogs at some of the puppy mills run by some of the people orchestrating the War on Puppies.

Proposition B (or the “Puppy Mill Cruelty Prevention Act”) in on the Missouri Ballot this November and is intended to stomp out 3000 puppy mills in Missouri, which is 30% of puppy mills nationwide. It is supported by Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and practically every animal rights organization in the country.

Who would declare war on me???

Evil bastards Alliance For Truth (we are fair and balanced here!) take exception to the law, claiming the HSUS has a “radical agenda” and is “misleading the public with its intentions on Prop B. The society seeks only to raise the cost of breeding dogs, making it ever-more difficult for middle-class American families to be dog-owners.” This is the kind of arguments usually used against PeTA and Cass Sunstein, but as HSUS isn’t a bunch of wackos, it doesn’t play well here.

Anita Andrews from Alliance For Truth told TPM that it’s a “deceptive, lying bill” that is “trying to purposefully get rid of the breeders.” The state of Missouri, she said, has been given a bad rap as “the puppy mill capitol” of the U.S. but “in truth we have the best ribbon breeders in the country.” And, Andrews said, the state already has anti-cruelty laws on the books.

“They don’t like animals,” she said of the Humane Society of the United States.

Yes, “They don’t like animals” – This is real life, folks, not The Onion. Someone actually said this.
